My short story "Next Year" won First Place in the short story category in the 2018 contest by the Society of Southwestern Authors, a Tucson organization that has been in existence since 1972. Their awards banquet was held at the Tucson Hotel Center on November 19 with winners and honorable mentions in the three categories (memoir, poetry, and short story) presented with awards, including publication in their annual magazine, "The Storyteller," and asked to read a section of their submissions.
